Have you noticed that warning you get everytime you’re running low on toner or ink? Cartridges for printer nowadays have smart chips. Their purpose is to monitor not only the toner or ink level on your cartridge but also other printer issues you encounter.
How does it work?
Cartridges for printer were designed with a specific amount and yield. A toner cartridge chip is set to monitor and count the amount of droplets used during printing. When the number of droplet is reached, it will then communicate with your PC to give the warning.
Can you reset a toner cartridge chip?
You may need to replace or reset a smart chip depending on your printer model. Some toner chips are embedded on toner cartridges. This might need replacing if ever you refill the toner cartridge since this type of chip is no longer accessible and difficult to reset. However, there is no longer a huge concern since most toner refills nowadays include toner reset chips.
