I Cannot Print Web Pages From Internet Explorer

I’ve been getting quite a lot of emails for this problem so I decided to make a troubleshooting guide. Do note that this is specifically for those who cannot print from Internet Explorer on either Windows 7 or Vista. This can be a rather complex issue as the problem can be triggered by many different things in the computer. What I will be providing are possible solutions for the most common causes rendering you unable to directly print web pages.

Case #1:
The most known issue is a missing Temporary Internet Files folder that acts as a temporary storage for browsed web pages. Said folder are sometimes deleted by anti-virus software or get corrupted by malware. Internet Explorer will not print correctly and most of the time, not even produce a print preview if attempted.

Follow the steps provided to recreate the folder:
Note: You will need to have administrative privileges.

1. Create a new folder on your home screen.
2. Open Internet Explorer.
3. Click “Tools” on the top right corner of the window.
4. A drop down menu will appear and from that click Internet options.
5. On the “General” tab look for “Settings” button under “Browsing History”.
6. Click “Move Folder” on Temporary Internet Files window.
7. On the new window, choose the folder you created on your home screen and then press “OK”.
8. Close all windows and launch Internet Explorer and attempt to print or Print Preview.

Case #2:
Obsolete software are usually the culprit to errors and malfunctions. In many cases, running the built-in Windows Updater tool hot fixes software issues. This also applies to troubleshooting the inability of internet explorer to communicate properly with the printer driver.

Follow these steps to run Windows Update Tool:
Note: You will need to have administrative privileges.

1. Click the “Start” button.
2. On the search bar, type in “Windows Update” and press enter.
3. A new window will pop up and from there click “Check for updates”.
4. The updater will prompt for the updates needed. Click “Install Updates”.
5. This is the crucial part. Let the updater run until it has finished installing all the updates.
6. It will prompt for a restart. Simply click “Restart now”.
7. After the restart, try to launch Internet Explorer and attempt to print or Print Preview.

Note: Before any attempt for printing, make sure that your ink cartridge or toner cartridge has enough ink or toner level to run a print.
